Cheektowaga Central School District
Breaking ground in October 2020, this $17 million project consisted of a 30,000 sq. ft. addition on the south side of the existing building of the Union East Elementary School.
The addition consists of:
- 19 new classroom spaces
- Boiler room
- Support spaces
- A newly constructed secured vestibule attached to a renovated main office space
The exterior work included new sidewalks to the main entry, an upgraded bus loop, expanded parking spaces, and a new dual playground area in the rear of the building. The interior renovations included reconstruction of several classrooms and office spaces, new interior lighting and ceilings, and HVAC upgrades in several spaces throughout the existing building.
The original project schedule included turning over only half of the new addition in September of 2021, totaling eight classrooms. However, due to strong planning and execution of the contracts, BCC was able to turn over all 19 classrooms for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
