Canalside Gateway Building
First Building on the North Aud Block
Buffalo Construction Consultants (BCC) was selected by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation to serve as the construction manager for the new Canalside Gateway Building. With an approximate 3,000 square perimeter footprint, the Gateway Building will be a four-story structure that includes a level along the canal towpath in downtown Buffalo, NY.
The first building on the North Aud Block, the new building is a steel-framed structure with masonry veneer set on a combination of concrete foundations and piles. The towpath floor will provide an area for the Canalside operations team to maintain and store equipment for Canalside, as well as facility personnel offices. The first floor will provide meeting rooms and visitor information area and the second and third floor will provide office space. The building will also include public restrooms on the two lowest levels and ADA accessibility to the towpath from the first floor.
The project is adjacent to the operational Explore & More Children’s Museum, public artwork, such as Shark Girl and a bustling Canalside area. BCC is providing all safety and logistics management to ensure adjacent properties remain operational while ensuring the safety of the public.
