Buffalo State College: Central Heating Plant
In 2019, the State University Construction Fund engaged Buffalo Construction Consultants, Inc. to manage a complex and critical infrastructure project. The scope includes the reconstruction of the central heating plant, originally built in 1950, to better serve the college and improve campus sustainability.
The project involves replacing five aging steam boilers, which have exceeded their operational lifespan, with three modern, high-efficiency natural gas boilers. Upgrades also include the installation of new distribution piping, systems, and controls to enhance overall performance and reliability.
With the central heating plant no longer servicing the adjacent Buffalo Psychiatric Center, the project also includes downsizing and renovating the existing facility into a smaller, more efficient structure that integrates seamlessly with the campus environment.
